WHMS Anti-Bullying Campaign
Bullying is different from an argument or a fight. It is regular, systematic and deliberate, and an abuse of power. It can impact on learning and attendance and most importantly on children’s self-esteem and confidence.
When adults respond quickly and consistently to bullying behavior they send the message that it is not acceptable. Research shows this can stop bullying behavior over time.
Parents, school staff, and other adults in the community can help kids prevent bullying by talking about it, building a safe school environment, and creating a community-wide bullying prevention strategy.
Mrs. Clara McMillian at Wilson Hall Middle School decided to create a bulletin board focusing on bullying. Students need to THINK prior to posting information on social media. Immediately after creating the bulletin board, the students were drawn to it, which creates a sense of security in knowing that the students are being attentive to the effects of bullying.
Our goal at Wilson Hall Middle School is to eliminate BULLYING on IMPACT. By doing so, we must make CONTACT in order to make an IMPACT to change bullying tendencies.
