On the first day of pick up meals for Clarke County Schools, almost 1500 meals were served. That was 2 breakfast and 2 lunch per kid. This was accomplished with workers from the child nutrition program and teacher and community volunteers. In Jackson, Mayor South and his wife, Jan were among the volunteers helping to prepare/distribute the meals.

Also Ross Wood with the Clarke County Democrat was passing out free newspapers at the Grove Hill site.

Meals will continue to be distributed to those 18 yrs and younger on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Clarke County High and Gillmore Elementary.  Parents who want to pick up a meal for their child when the child is not present may do so with proof that the meal is for the child. This may include, but is not limited to:  the child’s social security number, birthdate, birth certificate, student ID, transcript or report card. No proof of any kind is needed when the child is present. If a child is not enrolled in our school system, they must be present to receive a meal.
