Clarke County Schools provide a comprehensive array of services to meet the needs of students, ages three through twenty-one, who have been identified as disabled. Clarke County Schools currently employ 26 full-time special education teachers, 3 speech therapists, 1 gifted teacher, 1 psychometrist and 1 special education program specialist. Additionally, numerous paraprofessionals are employed to provide services in each of our 8 schools.
Services provided to any given child are based upon that child's individual needs. Our mandate is to assure that each child receives a free, appropriate, public education. Special education services are designed to provide the support necessary to allow a child to derive meaningful benefits from his or her educational experience.
